SJT Garden & Property Maintenance is a family business. Keith does the work, the team comes along when a job needs more hands, and the round has barely left the villages around Knowle in five decades.
We are a family business. We moved to Knowle in 1976, and we have been looking after gardens and properties around here ever since — private houses, gardens that have been on the round for years, properties standing empty between tenants, and the jobs that need doing before a house goes on the market.
The work splits roughly in two. There is the gardening: mowing, hedge cutting, weeding, pruning, leaf clearance and the full tidy when a garden has got away from someone. And there is the property side: fencing and gates, clearances, patios and paths, and the general handyman work that falls between a gardener and a builder. Most of our customers use us for both, because it is one call and one person to deal with.
Alongside private clients we work for a number of local estate agents, including John Earle, Hunters, Xact and Peter Clarke. Agency work keeps you honest: you turn up on the day you said, you work to somebody else's deadline, and you leave a garden or a property ready for a viewing rather than nearly ready.
What has not changed is who turns up. Keith prices the job and Keith does the job, which is why the reviews on Google tend to use his name rather than the company's — “Keith has been cutting our lawns and hedges for several years now”, “we have used Keith many times”. The rating sits at 5.0, every review five stars.
