Our own gardens, not stock photographs.
Every photograph here is a job of ours around Knowle, Dorridge and Solihull — lawns on the regular round, hedges cut to a line, new gates and fencing, and gardens cleared back to a fresh start. Nothing here was bought from a picture library.
Lawns
A back lawn cut to even stripes, edged against the paving and the border, with the boundary hedge squared off behind it — a garden on the regular round.
A larger lawn mown around a mature tree and a brick boundary wall, with the border edge cut back cleanly and the clippings taken away.
Hedges
A curved laurel hedge reshaped to a clean face and top, the lawn cut and the island bed edged — the whole front of the garden tidied in one visit.
A long conifer hedge along a corner plot, cut square along the top and both faces from the drive to the far boundary — the sort of run that goes soft at the bottom if it is only ever shortened.
Fencing & gates
A new closeboard side gate hung between the house and the fence — braced, bolted top and bottom and squared to the paving so it shuts properly.
Timber entrance gates between brick piers, with the gravel and setts alongside them cleared and swept back to a clean edge.
Clearance & property
Before: a side garden left to itself — knee-high grass, weeds through the paving and a fence line lost in the growth.
After: the same garden cleared back to the fences and the paving, the sleepers exposed again and every bit of the material taken away.
A large porcelain patio cleaned down and the garden beyond it cut and cleared — property maintenance rather than gardening, and just as much a part of the job.
