Lawn Mowing & Lawn Care
Mowing is the job most people want off their hands, and it is the one that makes the biggest difference week to week. We cut lawns large and small — from a courtyard behind a Knowle cottage to open lawns that take a morning — at the right height for the time of year, with the edges cut back cleanly against beds and paths so the whole garden reads as looked after. On a regular round the grass gets cut before it has got away from you, which keeps it thick rather than shocked. Clippings go with us. If a lawn has been left long or has come back patchy after a dry summer, tell us and we will take a look and say honestly what would bring it round.

Hedge Cutting & Shaping
Hedges are what give a house its privacy and its front, and they need cutting to a line rather than simply shortened. We cut hedges of all types and sizes — the long conifer runs that edge so many properties around Knowle and Dorridge, beech and hornbeam, laurel, privet and mixed native hedging — reshaping the top and faces so the hedge stays dense and square instead of thinning at the bottom. Height reductions and years of neglect are no problem, and we will tell you what a hedge will take without going bare. Nesting season is taken seriously: between March and August we will advise on timing rather than cut through an active nest. All the material is taken away and disposed of responsibly.

Garden Maintenance
Beyond the mowing and the hedges there is everything else a garden quietly needs: borders weeded and edged, shrubs pruned back into shape, dead growth cut down in the autumn, leaves cleared off the lawn and out of the beds, pots and paths kept clear of weeds. We do it as a full gardening service — for large gardens and small ones — either as a one-off tidy when things have got on top of you, or as part of a regular visit so they never do. If you are keen on the garden yourself and just want the heavy or awkward parts handled, that is fine too; tell us where you want the line drawn.

Garden & Property Clearance
Some gardens have simply got away from their owners; some come with a property that has just changed hands or been sitting empty. We clear both. Overgrown grass, brambles, self-set saplings, old sheds and the contents of a garden that has been used as storage all go — and so does household waste material from a clearance. We work as licensed waste carriers and everything is disposed of responsibly rather than tipped somewhere it shouldn't be. Agents and landlords use us for exactly this: a property emptied, cleared and made presentable in time for photographs or a new tenant. 05Service
Fencing, Gates & Repairs
After a winter of gales there is always fencing to put right, and it is rarely worth replacing the lot. We repair and replace fencing at whatever scale the job actually needs — a single panel blown out, a run of feather-edge or closeboard replaced, concrete or timber posts dug out and reset, gravel boards, and new gates hung and furnished so they shut properly and keep shutting. Side gates, garden gates and field-style gates are all straightforward for us; the old fencing goes away with us. If you are not sure whether a fence is worth saving, we will come and look and give you both options with a price against each.

Property Maintenance & Handyman Work
We work on domestic and commercial properties and carry out all aspects of property maintenance and handyman work. In practice that means the list nobody else wants: patios and paths cleaned down and re-pointed, gutters cleared, sheds and outbuildings repaired or taken down, exterior timber treated, odd carpentry, fixings, small repairs inside and out, and the tidy-up jobs that need doing before a property is let, sold or photographed. If you have a list rather than a single job, that suits us best — send it over and we will price the lot in one go.

An honest price, and a straight answer
You get a price for the job and an honest view of what actually needs doing. If a hedge is better left until after nesting season, or a fence only needs two panels rather than a full run, we will say so rather than sell you the bigger job.

We arrive when we say we will and work through the job properly. Clippings, cuttings and cleared material go with us and are disposed of responsibly — we work as licensed waste carriers — so you are not left with bagged-up green waste or trips to the tip.

Plenty of our work is one-off: a clearance, a fence run, a property tidied between tenants. Plenty more is a regular round — fortnightly or monthly through the season — so the garden never swings between overgrown and cut back. Whichever suits you is fine by us.

How do I get a quotation, and does it cost anything?

Do you do one-off jobs, or only regular garden rounds?
Both, and neither commits you to the other. Plenty of our work is a single visit — a clearance, a hedge that has got tall, a fence run after a storm, a property tidied between tenants. Plenty more is a regular fortnightly or monthly round through the season. Start with one and move to the other whenever it suits you.
What happens to the green waste and the cleared material?
It goes with us. Clippings, hedge cuttings, cleared growth and household waste material from a clearance are all removed as part of the job and disposed of responsibly — we work as licensed waste carriers. You are not left with a pile of bags or a boot full of trips to the tip.
Do you work for estate agents and landlords?
Yes — it is a good part of what we do. We work for a number of local estate agents, including John Earle, Hunters, Xact and Peter Clarke, on gardens and properties that need to be right for a viewing, a photograph or a new tenant. If you manage property around Knowle, Dorridge or Solihull, we are used to working to your dates.
When is the right time to cut a hedge?
It depends on the hedge. Conifer and formal evergreen hedges are usually cut once or twice through the growing season; beech and hornbeam are generally tidied in late summer. Between March and August we take nesting birds seriously and will advise on timing rather than cut straight through an active nest. Ask and we will tell you what your hedge actually wants.
Which areas do you cover?
Knowle, Dorridge, Solihull and the surrounding areas. We are based in Knowle, so most of the round is within a few miles. If you are nearby and not sure whether you are in range, ring and ask — you will get a straight answer either way.
Can you take on a garden that has completely got out of hand?
Yes. Overgrown clearance is one of the jobs we are asked for most — grass that has gone to knee height, brambles, self-set saplings, sheds full of things that should have gone years ago. We clear it back to a usable garden, take the lot away, and then, if you want, keep it that way on a regular visit so it never gets there again.
Who actually turns up?
Keith, with the team when a job needs more hands. The person who prices your job is the person who does it, which is why the reviews tend to use his name rather than the company's.
